Slimmer of the Year 2009 - FINALIST
Jacqueline says……

At work there was a mirror on the wall on the exit to the ladies loo. I got to the stage that I could not look in the mirror because I had grown so large I could not believe the fat woman staring back at me was actually me.

I know the turning point for me was when I started to struggle to get into size 20 clothes. I had always promised myself I would never wear size 20 clothes, and here I was barely able to fit into them.

Over several years my weight had increased by probably half a stone each year, which in itself does not seem so bad until, with horror, I knew I had reached over 15 stones. Most rugby players weigh that much.

When I was at my heaviest I could hardly reach my toe nails to cut them or put nail polish on. The problem is you adapt gradually and make excuses for not being able to do the things you should be able to do.

Every time I climbed the stairs at work I was puffing and panting and I only worked on the first floor.

When I joined the Syston class I had expectations of losing about 2 stone and getting down to a size 16.

I am thrilled to say I have lost over 4 stones and can now fit into size 14’s. I have found the class supportive and it’s like having a night out! Without the support from Jo and the other members at the class I do not think I could have achieved the results I have.

I feel so much better and healthier. I can run up the stairs now and still not be as out of breath as I was when I walked up them. I enjoy shopping for clothes now and sometimes have to pinch myself when I am looking on the racks for size 14. I have not been able to buy size 14 for over 25 years. It has been a pleasure being able to discard my “fat” clothes.

When I was looking for a before photograph of myself I really struggled: the reason being that I never wanted to be in front of the camera before I lost weight and so I could only find three photographs of myself. Nowadays I am quite happy to have my photo taken!
